6th class lighthouses
Today, we went to visit Mr. Walsh's 6th class to see their finished lighthouses. We were incredibly impressed with their hard work and their ability to explain how to make a lighthouse. Their designs were all so different and there was a unique feature on each one. Our class loves any STEM activities so we really enjoyed the visit!

3d shapes
Today we revised the names and properties of 3d shapes. We tried to make some 3d shapes using match sticks. It's quite tricky to keep the shapes together but we did our best!

Lava, lava everywhere
How lucky are we? We all got to make our own mini volcano in Room 22. It was our second try using papier mâché and we loved it. All of our volcanoes have erupted and hot, molten lava is flooding down the side. It was so much fun!

Evaporation, condensation, precipitation
We have been learning about the water cycle this month. We decided to do an experiment on evaporation. One of our girls, Dhay, designed this experiment! The cup on the right has lost water. The cup on the left has not lost water. We saw water droplets in the top cup that poured back into the bottom. We are monitoring it weekly.

Volcanoes!!
This month we are learning all about volcanoes. We know all about the tallest volcano, magma, lava, lava bombs and much more! We learned all about dormant, active and dead volcanoes. We created or own volcano pictures in art with plenty of hot lava coming out.

Pinch pots
The girls worked really hard on their pinch pots. They made the pot and used this as the base for their own special creations like flowers, turtles and teacups. They painted them in their favourite colours too. Didn't they do well.đ

Interest talks
We had our first volunteer today for our interest talks. We learned all about this author, Jacqueline Wilson and her books. This is the pupil's favourite book and she told us some of the things that happen in the story. Well done!!!
Sa Bhialann
BhĂ na cailĂnĂ sa bhialann. BhĂ siad ag obair mar fhreastalaĂ agus d'ith siad gach rud. BhĂ ocras an domhain orthu! Is custaimĂ©irĂ rialta iad, beidh siad ar ais arĂs. NĂĄ dĂ©an dearmad, bĂonn an ceart ag an gcustaimĂ©ir i gconaĂ!!
The girls are learning all about food in Irish this month. We pretended to be at a restaurant. We had customers come in and we had waitresses taking orders. Super fun!

Walking water
We have been learning about water in geography. For science week, we did an experiment with teacher. We tried to get water to move from one cup into an empty cup. Sounds impossible doesn't it! Unless you use a little science. We used tissue to absorb the water and transfer it to the empty cup. We even saw some colour mixing happening. Check out the demonstration below.
Science week
To celebrate science week, we have been doing some simple experiment demonstrations in class. As with all experiments, our teacher tells us that safety is important and we need to ask an adult for help. Here, we learned how oil and water do not mix. We made lava lamps in two colours. We liked the blue one the best because the contrasting colours looked better. We even added some glitter for fun! Who doesn't love glitter☺

Static electricity
We are learning about static electricity. First, we made butterflies using card and tissue paper. Next, we rubbed a balloon on our hair or our jumper and put it close to the butterfly. The butterfly was attracted to the balloon. It moved using static electricity. We also tried to bend water, make our hair stand up as well as other fun experiments. We have more interesting experiments lined up next week for science week.

We started our fantastic dance lessons with Kevin. He is such a good teacher and we had a great time. We can't wait until next week already!!
